Philadelphia will be the host city of the 1983 convention of the Gay Press Association the weekend of April 19, 30 and May 1, 1983. Preregistration for the convention for GPA members is $45; for nonmembers, $80. The deadline for pre-registration will be April 6, 1983. Dr. Mary S. Calderone will speak on the topic of "Parents and Their Children as Sexual Beings" on Wednesday, April 20, 1983, at 3:30 p.m. at WomenSpace, 1258 Euclid Avenue. Dr. Calderone's address, sponsored by WomenSpace, is presented as an alternative to participating in the women's health seminar at Stouffer's Inn, which is a totally owned subsidiary of Nestle. Everywoman's Weekend 1983 will take place April 22-24 at Michigan State University, Lansing, Michigan. The weekend will include a series of lectures, workshops, art, film, and musical events, including an organizational and art fair. The First National Tradeswomen Conference is currently being planned. for Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-29, 1983. It will be held in the San Francisco Bay Area and will bring together women from trades groups scattered over the country, as well as individual women working in blue collar jobs and advocacy positions. The conference will give women an opportunity to build a strong national network, share ideas, and talk about what it is like to be a blue collar woman. The fifth annual National Coalition Against Sexual Assault Conference will take place July 27-30, 1983, at the Sheraton-Ritz Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is designed for persons interested in the Issues of personal violence or those who work with the survivors of sexual assault. The more than forty workshops will cover such areas as working with the elderly, child sexual abuse, positive use of power in females, health sexuality and religious issues. Approximate cost for four nights lodging, registration, breakfast and lunches is $145.00 (triple occupancy). Basic registration without hotel accommodations is $75.00. Organizational Notes
Freedom of Choice, Ohlo (FOCO), a coalition whose members include the National Abortion Rights Action League of Ohio, Education for Freedom of Choice in Ohio, the Ohio National Organization for Women, the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood, and other organizations, will sponsor a statewide Lobby for Choice Day, Wednesday, April 20, 1983, In Columbus. The day will include lobbying at the Statehouse, luncheon with legislators, and a keynote address by Mildred Jeffries, National Abortion Rights Action League board member, founder of the National Women's Political Caucus, and former United Auto Workers staffer. DES Action/Cleveland continues its objective in informing the public about the effects of DES by sponsoring a public meeting, free and open to everyone, on April 23, 1983 as part of the local observance of national DES Awarnesss Week.
